The 2025 Lexus NX brings a comprehensive suite of advanced technology features that transform...
The Lexus RX series is a popular mid-size luxury crossover line that features gasoline- and hybrid-powered models. Two of the models, the RX350 and RX450h (hybrid), are an important part of the lineup.
Both have several similarities, such the same exterior dimensions, styling, and individual passenger volume. Customers do frequently ask about their differences, aside from gasoline and hybrid power. Here, we compare both models to help you make a better purchasing decision.
The 2020 Lexus RX350 and RX450h models have some performance differences
Both share the same 3.5-litre six-cylinder gasoline engine that results in 295 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque in the RX350. The RX450h hybrid, with the addition of electric power and the battery, raises horsepower to 308, but torque decreases to 247. Towing capacity stays the same at 1585 Kg for both RXs.
The RX350 features an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters to add personalization to its overall performance. The RX450h features a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) for added efficiency, but gains back driver inputs with paddle shifters. The shifters make the transmission differences less noticeable until you start visiting the gas pump.
A major (and anticipated) difference between both models is fuel efficiency. The 350 earns a fuel efficiency rating of 12.2/9.0 L/100 km (city/highway) with its all-petrol power. The 450h significantly reduces fuel consumption to 7.5 / 8.4 L/100 km.
Price and other differences between the 2020 Lexus RX 350 and RX450h
The entry MSRP of the RX350 is in the area of $56,000. The RX450h is slightly higher at $58,800.
Inside, both vehicles share similar technologies, as well as the same individual passenger volume dimensions such as front head, leg, and shoulder room and rear leg and shoulder room. The 450h has 970 mm of rear head room compared to the 350’s increased 993 mm.
There are also some slight differences in cargo volume. Behind the rear seats, the 350 has 694 litres of capacity, which is notably more than the 450h’s 510 litres in the same configuration. The 450h has a 3 mm advantage when cargo volume is measured behind the front row with rear seats folded.
