The 2025 Lexus NX brings a comprehensive suite of advanced technology features that transform...
The Lexus UX and Lexus NX are the smaller members of the Lexus SUV family. Both vehicles look quite similar with their modern Lexus style while emphasizing hybrid efficiency, performance and advanced amenities that make them popular among their segments. Four total models offer plenty for buyers to consider.
Despite their similarities, the UX and NX also fill their own unique roles. Many of our Lexus customers inquire about these differences, and we explore them here.
There are size and capacity differences between the Lexus UX and Lexus NX
The UX is the most compact vehicle in this comparison with its subcompact classification. Being 190 mm less in length than the NX, it fits into tight urban spaces. The compact NX features a slightly larger cargo capacity (up to 501 litres) with its larger dimensions, and this also translates into more occupant room. Although both perform well in congested areas, the UX is the smaller of the two vehicles.
The powertrain differences between the Lexus UX and Lexus NX
The NX includes more powerful engine choices than the UX, adapting to its slightly larger size and boosting performance when needed. The AWD NX 300 includes a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder that generates 235 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The NX300H (hybrid) outputs 194 net horsepower with a fuel economy rating of 7.2/7.9 L/100 km (city/highway).
The UX offers the best efficiency in this comparison. The UX 200 delivers an all-gas 2.0L four-cylinder that outputs a solid 168 horsepower while just burning 8.0/6.3 L/100 km. The UX 250h (hybrid) bumps up to 181 horsepower with a fuel consumption rating of just 5.7/6.2 L/100 km. When efficiency is most important, the UX 200 is the best choice.
The NX models include standard AWD, whereas the UX 200 is available with FWD. The UX 250 features AWD.
Examining the price differences between the Lexus UX and Lexus NX
With its larger size and higher output, the NX series has a starting MSRP of $44,600—still outstanding for a compact luxury SUV. The UX lineup starts at $38,450, which invites more price-conscious buyers into the luxury SUV segment.
