The 2025 Lexus NX brings a comprehensive suite of advanced technology features that transform...
The Lexus RX is a very popular product in Canada. Not only because it surpasses its rivals in terms of performance, reliability, comfort and technology, but also because it is assembled on Canadian soil, which brings a pride component that other rivals can’t match. The RX series features gasoline- and hybrid-powered models that have resemblances, but also key differences.
Here, we take a look at both models, the RX 350 and RX 450h (hybrid).
The 2022 Lexus RX 350 and RX 450h models offer different powertrains
Under the hoods of the RX 350 and RX 450h, you will find an efficient 3.5-litre six-cylinder gasoline engine. It outputs 295 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque in the RX 350. For the RX 450h hybrid, Lexus added an electric motor and a battery to bump the power up 308.
Both vehicles use different transmissions. The RX350 features an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, while the RX 450h uses an efficient Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).
Of course, the RX 450h uses less fuel. With ratings of 7.5 L/100 km in the city and 8.4 L/100 km on the highway, the 450h is not only a more efficient RX, it also surpasses its rivals in that matter. The RX 350 earns a fuel efficiency rating of 12.2 L/100 km in the city and 9.0 L/100 km on the highway.
Both vehicles feature standard AWD to conquer Canada’s worst winter conditions, but also to gain optimal traction on dry roads.
The 2022 RX 350 and RX 450 h also differ in terms of price and space
Inside, both vehicles are crafted using Lexus’ finest in terms of materials and textures. They also share similar intuitive technologies, creating an optimal driving environment for the driver and passengers. The 450h offers a little bit les head room in the rear with 970 mm compared to the 350’s 993 mm.
There are also some slight differences in cargo volume. Behind the rear seat, the RX 350 delivers 521 litres of space, while the RX 450 h gives 510 litres. Both come in the elongated L version, which offers a third row.
