In the latest rankings by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE), Lexus's commitment to sustainable luxury transportation has been recognized, with its RZ 300e electric SUV securing the second spot in the GreenerCars list, showcasing the brand's prowess in combining eco-friendliness with high-end performance. This ranking comes amid a broader industry shift towards electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrids, evidenced by the dominance of such models in the 2024 list of environmentally friendly vehicles.

The ACEEE evaluates vehicles based on several environmental impact factors, including emissions during manufacturing, energy consumption, and exhaust emissions, with the Lexus RZ 300e emerging as a top contender in the luxury electric vehicle category. The rankings highlight the automotive sector's ongoing transition to more sustainable models, driven by tightening environmental regulations and a growing consumer demand for greener transportation options.

Toyota's Prius Prime plug-in hybrid led the rankings, reinforcing the automaker's leadership in eco-innovation, which is also mirrored in the achievements of its luxury division, Lexus. The report notes a significant decrease in EV prices by 18% in 2023, attributed to enhanced competition and battery technology advancements, contributing to a surge in America’s EV sales by 46% to 1.2 million units.

The inclusion of Toyota's RAV4 Prime among the top environmentally friendly vehicles also highlights the role of plug-in hybrids as a viable option in areas where EV charging infrastructure is still developing.
