The Lexus line of sport utility vehicles is one of the most comprehensive in the industry, offering five distinct models designed to meet different needs. The 2021 Lexus UX is the brand's entry-level SUV, offering a level of comfort and refinement worthy of the Lexus brand, but with an affordable price that requires no compromise on handling, safety or driving pleasure.
Inside the 2021 Lexus UX lineup are two models, the Lexus UX 200 and the Lexus UX 250h. While both offer the same styling and interior features, there are notable differences between the two. Here's a look at those differences to help you determine which version is right for you.
A hybrid powertrain for the 2021 Lexus UX 250h
The main difference between the Lexus UX 250h and the Lexus UX 200 is in the engine. While the Lexus UX 200 is powered by a traditional four-cylinder engine with 169 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque, the UX 250h is instead powered by a hybrid engine.
The latter combines a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with a 1.4 kWh battery that powers an electric motor. In terms of power, the hybrid engine has the advantage with 181 horsepower. It also has the advantage in terms of fuel consumption, averaging 5.7 liters per 100 kilometers in the city and 6.2 liters/100 km on the highway. The gasoline engine consumes an average of 8.0 l/100 km/ h in the city and 6.3 l/100 km.
You will notice that the main difference in consumption is in the city whereas on the highway it is very similar. In the city, you will effortlessly burn about 2.5 liters less gasoline per 100 kilometers, which makes a huge difference.
The other thing to consider is that the hybrid Lexus UX 250h has all-wheel drive while the 2021 Lexus UX 200 is a front-wheel drive vehicle. This means that those who regularly face difficult road conditions may prefer the hybrid model and the stability advantages it provides.
There are no differences between the two models in terms of interior space or cargo space, however.
The price should also be considered as a differentiator between the Lexus UX 250h and the Lexus UX 200. The hybrid model costs $ 1,800 more than the Lexus UX 200 for the entry-level model *
Here’s an overall summary of the differences between the two models.
