The 2025 Lexus NX brings a comprehensive suite of advanced technology features that transform...
The new 2021 Lexus IS emerges with many exterior, interior, safety and performance improvements that not only elevate its status as a luxury sports sedan, but a highly advanced technological platform. Buyers can choose between the IS 300 RWD, IS 300 and IS 350.
Three powertrain options in the 2021 Lexus IS
The rear-wheel drive IS 300 features an updated 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This engine generates 241 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of wide-ranging torque and pairs with an eight-speed Sport Direct Shift Automatic transmission. The engine includes an adaptive transmission control that chooses the best gear based on driver input during each driving situation.
The AWD IS 300 features a 3.5L six-cylinder engine that produces 260 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque. Pairing with a six-speed automatic transmission, the AWD system splits torque in a 30:70 split on dry roads and up to 50:50 in certain conditions.
The IS 350 is designed for the performance-minded driver who wants the most out of a sports sedan. It outputs 311 horsepower and 280 lb.-ft of torque. The 350 also pairs up with a six-speed automatic transmission that helps it achieve road-owning acceleration. This model tackles 0-96 km/h in just 5.7 seconds.
Each IS features lighter coil springs, A-arms and a suspension stabilizer that contribute to the sedan’s impressive performance.
The 2021 Lexus IS features the new Lexus Safety System+ 2.5
Each IS includes the standard Lexus Safety System+, but it receives many upgrades for 2021 with the new LSS+ 2.5. The Pre-Collision System wraps together Frontal Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Pedestrian Detection and Bicyclist Detection safety components. The camera and radar that manage this system feature an expanded response range that improves multi-object detection capabilities in daytime and low light conditions.
The powerful All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control performs vehicle-to-vehicle distance controls down to 0 km/h, and it can be activated above 50 km/h. Lane Departure Alert communicates if the IS is leaving the lane with an inactive turn signal. The improved Lane Tracing Assist helps the IS stay in the lane centre using minor steering corrections as it senses external markers, lines and road edges.
