The 2025 Lexus NX brings a comprehensive suite of advanced technology features that transform...
Lexus vehicles are among the most fuel efficient of their categories due to a number of advanced technologies.
Available hybrid powertrains
6 out of the 10 Lexus models are available with a very efficient hybrid powertrain that combines an electric motor with a gasoline engine in order to offer the best fuel efficiency possible in any driving scenario. Any of those models are able to move under electric power alone, which makes them ideal in city driving or in rush hour traffic, since the gasoline engine can be turned off for extended periods of time while travelling. Since Lexus pioneered hybrid powertrains in premium vehicles over fifteen years ago, its systems are some of the most refined and most reliable that can be found anywhere in the automotive industry.
The Eco mode
Most Lexus vehicles come standard with a drive mode selection system that features an Eco mode. Selecting it changes the parameters of the engine, the transmission and the accelerator pedal in order to provide the best fuel efficiency possible. For example, the transmission will upshift sooner to keep the engine speed at a minimum and the electronic accelerator pedal will become less sensitive in order to afford the driver a more precise control of the acceleration and reduce fuel usage in day-to-day driving.
The adaptive cruise control
Even if it isn’t usually regarded as a fuel saving feature, the adaptive cruise control can have a positive impact on fuel consumption by smoothing out accelerations and decelerations. Vehicles burn the most fuel when they are accelerating and the least when they are maintaining a set speed. By using the adaptive cruise control, Lexus vehicles are capable of saving fuel since their brake and accelerate smoothly to follow the vehicle in front at a safe distance instead of accelerating hard and then stepping on the brakes almost immediately, like some drivers are prone to do in stressful situations.
